Hypertensive Kidney Disease is a serious complication of high blood pressure.
If people have poor control of blood pressure, it will damage the systemic blood
vessels including those in kidneys thus leading to nephrosclerosis. According
some researches, Hypertensive Kidney Disease is the secondary leading cause of
Renal Failure. Therefore, early inspection and treatment are very important for
the patients to slow down the disease progression into Renal Failure. Therefore,
the patients with high blood pressure should pay more attention to the symptoms
of Hypertensive Kidney Disease.
1. Increased urination at night
High blood pressure can lead to nephrosclerosis. As a result, the renal
tubule is impaired so its concentration ability decreases. The patients will
have increased urination at night more than 3 times during a night.
2. Edema
Edema is often the primary symptom of Hypertensive Kidney Disease. The
patients usually have systemic edema and even hydrothorax and ascitic fluid in
severe case, which can lead to difficulty in breath. Along with edema, the
patients also have decreased urine output, high blood pressure and mild
azotaemia.
3. Proteinuria
In the late stage of Hypertensive Kidney Disease, the glomeruli are damaged.
There is a small amount of protein and red blood cells in urine. Proteinuria is
an important index in measuring renal damage. The more protein in urine, the
more serious the kidney damage is. In addition, the creatinine clearance rate
decreases and serum creatinine level is elevated.
4. Systemic symptoms
The patients with Hypertensive Kidney Disease also have fundus disease and
cardiovascular complications, stroke and so on. In some cases, these
complications may threaten the patients’ life in the early stage of Hypertensive
Kidney Disease.
If the patients with high blood pressure have one or several symptoms above,
they should go for check to find if they have renal injury. In order to slow
down the progression of Hypertensive Kidney Disease, the patients should keep
their blood pressure less than 130/80 mmHg. Moreover, they should develop
healthy daily habits like keeping a healthy diet for Hypertensive Kidney Disease
and keep standard body weight and so on. If they can receive effective treatment
in time along with healthy daily care, they will be able to avoid Renal
Failure.
