Benign Cysts on Kidneys Can Develop into Cancer

Generally, cysts on kidneys are benign. Many patients have indifferent attitude towards the cysts and they don’t take effective treatment for a long time. Among the four patients with cancer, the youngest on is only 41 years old. He felt painful in his waist before the attack of cysts. He thought maybe it resulted from cold, so he didn’t pay much attention to it. He came to hospital because of severe soreness. The right kidney cyst is less than 5cm in size. Because the symptoms are serious, doctors carried out laparoscopy to take decortication surgery for the right kidney cyst. Pathology of this disease is abnormal after surgery. In order to treat the disease further, doctors took radical resection for the right kidney. Clear cell carcinoma is found. Because of timely treatment, cancer hasn’t spread.

The oldest one is 79 years old among the four patients. Sometimes he can feel that there was mass in abdominal when he took bath. Then he felt painful in bilateral waist. He was diagnosed to have bilateral cysts in local hospital. Then he came to Kidney Disease Hospital. Doctors carried out laparoscopy to take decortication surgery. After surgery, a 20cm-larged cyst was found in the left kidney. Papillary carcinoma can be found in pathology. Then doctors took radical resection for the left kidney.

Currently, the four patients have better recovery after surgery. Experts suggest that patients should take regular examination after 30 years old. If cysts on kidneys occur, they should pay attention to the following aspects:

1. Avoid strenuous physical activity and abdominal trauma. Patients should avoid tight belt if kidney swelling is obvious.
2. Patients should control their blood pressure which plays a decisive role in protecting kidney function.
3. Patients should prevent urinary infection actively. Patients should be more cautious in personal hygiene and take appropriate exercise.
4. If the cysts grow rapidly or obvious symptoms occur, it is better for patients to take surgery early.
