Alcohol does not damage the kidneys directly. However, it could make those risk factors such as high blood pressure, elevated blood lipids, hyperuricemia, swelling etc. even more uncontrollable and affect the effect of management / treatment of nephrotic syndrome. Moreover, alcohol can affect nitrogen balance and increase of blood urea nitrogen (BUN) density which can disturb scan management function and kidney disease condition.

Nephrotic syndrome glomerular damage filters and cause urinary protein. Protein loss causes swelling (edema) of limbs, eyelids, ankles etc. High blood pressure and high blood cholesterol combine to further damage kidneys and increase possibility of heart disease.
