Diabetic Nephropathy is a serious complication of Diabetes, which is a
micro-vascular complication. Diabetic Nephropathy is charactered with
glomerulosclerosis, which is a kind of vascular injury of glomerulus. At the
primary stage, there are usually no symptoms, and the blood pressure can be
normal or slight high than normal range. Then, how to positively prevent from
Diabetic Nephropathy?
Here are some advisement as follows:
One, cultivate and keep a good life-style: it can help patients to well
control blood sugar and change the condition of metabolic disorder. Patients can
change their unhealthy life style through loosing weight, adjusting diet,
quitting smoking and taking proper exercises, etc.
Two, well control blood sugar in an ideal range: the ideal range of blood
sugar for patients FBG(fasting blood-glucose)<6.0 mmol/L, P2hPG <8.0
mmol/L, HbA1c<6.5%.
Once patients develop into Diabetic Nephropathy, they should take insulin as
soon as possible, because insulin can not only effectively control blood sugar
but also won't damage liver or renal function. Besides, patients with slight or
moderate renal insufficiency can take Gliquidone,α-glucosidase inhibitor.
Thiazolidinediones can relieve insulin resistance and protect kidney.
Three, well control blood pressure:the increase of systolic blood pressure or
diastolic blood pressure can promote the development of Diabetic Nephropathy.
Patients except those with GDM(Gestational Diabetes Mellitus) more than 18 years
old should control blood pressure under 130/80 mmHg. Patients with Diabetes and
Hypertension should first choose hypotensor such as ACEI or ARB, which can not
only lower blood pressure but also protect kidney.
Four, because blood lipid disorder is the main factor causing heart
cerebrovascular disease such as coronary heart disease(CHD), stroke, myocardial
infarction(MI),cerebral infarction, etc, it is very important to correct it. The
limit of blood lipid for patients are total cholesterol (TC)<4.5mmol/L, low
density lipoprotein(LDL-c)<2.5mmol/L, high-density lipoprotein
(HDL-c)>1.1mmol/L, Triglycerides (TG)<1.5mmol/L.
Five, patients should pay attention to the medicine renal toxicity and avoid
taking this kind of medicine. For example, if the medicine is discharged by
kidney, patients with Renal Insufficiency should avoid to takeing it. So they
should follow doctors' advice to properly take medicine.
Six, prevent from urinary infection and positively treat it timely.
Seven, take physical examination at regular intervals: at the primary stage
of Diabetic Nephropathy, there is usually no symptoms. So patients should
persist on taking physical examination at regular intervals in particular the
test of MAU( micro albunm in urine). When patients are diagnosed with type 2
Diabetes they should take urine test to check MAU. For patients with type 1
Diabetes they should take the test 5 years after their diagnosis. Besides, they
should take the test one time each year.
Eight, proper diet can not help patients to effectively treat the condition
but also can delay the development. So patients should follow doctors' advice to
make a proper diet according to their own condition.
Proper prevention can help patients well control their condition and put off
the development. However, patients should take positive treatment as soon as
possible, early treatment can get a better prognosis.
