With many years’ practices in clinic, experts have discovered that there are
many factors can cause and affect PKD(Polycystic Kidney Disease). So factors of
preventing from PKD and avoiding its pathological change should be highly paid
attention to.
1. inborn dysontogenesis can lead to various disease and for PKD(Polycystic
Kidney Disease) it can cause MSK and MCDK. For this kind of disease because its
genes are normal, it is different from genetic and genic mutation of PKD.
2.genic mutation (not hereditary) Most of PKD is inherited from parents
either by autosomal dominant inheritance or autosomal recessive inheritance. But
there are also some of PKD derived neither by inheriting from parents nor inborn
dysontogenesis but by genic mutation during embryogenesis. In the process of
embryogenesis, various factors can cause genic mutation and lead to PKD, which
is rare but can happen. So in this condition, patients with PKD can have no
family genetic history.
3.various infection. Infection can make internal environment of organism
abnormal, which is in favor of providing a condition for genic mutation of
PKD(Polycystic Kidney Disease), activating internal factors of cyst and
promoting the formation and growth of cyst. Any kind of infection of any part of
the body can affect the cyst by blood circulation. If the cyst is infected, it
will aggravate clinical symptoms and promotes the rapidly growth of cyst, which
further damages renal function. Common infections include infection of the upper
respiratory tract such as cold, urinary tract infection, gastrointestinal
infections, skin infection trauma infection and infection from equipment. That
is to say both bacterial infection and virus infection can have a great effect
to cyst.
4. toxin.Toxin in body can cause injury to various cells, tissues and organs
and brings about disease or even more endangers people's life, which is also the
main factor of genic mutation and inborn dysontogenesis. Common toxin includes
pesticides, some chemicals, radioactive rays and contamination, etc. Especially
for some medicine, it is renal toxicity and can cause kidney damage if not used
properly, which includes western medicine such as kanamycin, gentamicin,
sulfanilamide, rifampicin and indomethacin, etc , and Traditional Chinese
Medicine such as centipede and nux vomica.
5.diet.People may not realize that unhealthy diet can bring about many
diseases, which is an important factor in the development of PKD.One, improper
diet, for example being excessive hungry can cause inanition but overeating can
damage the digestion and absorption function of stomach with obstacle of gas and
blood circulation. Overeating food abundant with fat, sugar or salt can generate
more internal energy.Two, unclean diet can lead to gastrointestinal disorders
for slight ones, but it can also cause poisoning or endanger people's life for
serious ones.Three, diet preference. For instance, overeating cold and raw food
can damage stomach, over intake of food with pepper can activate stomach and
having a diet preference for a long time can easily damage entrails. The
effection to organism of above diet habit is obvious, which directly or
indirectly affects the development of cyst. To patients with renal cysts, they
should pay more attention to the following aspects：Spicy and stimulus food is
forbidden such as pepper, wine. Besides stimulating food such as chocolate,
coffee, marine fish and crabs, salty foods especially pickle, contaminated food
such as unclean food, putridfood, leftover and ort, grilled food and
smoking(including passive smoking) are also forbidden.
6.Unbalance of rest and work.Overwork means three following aspects:One,
overwork in labouring, that is to say long terms of excessive force and
strenuous exercise. People can easily break down from constant overwork.
Two,overwork in spirit, which means over worried, great psychological pressure
and great thought burden.Three, overwork in sex life means intemperate sex
life.All of those are harmful to health which can also affect the development of
cyst. Further more, excessive ease without movement or any labouring can lead to
less circulation of blood and gas and can bring about disease.
7.emotional factor. The modern medical research has discovered that unhealthy
emotion can lead to unbalance of nervous system and endocrine, which changes
internal environment by nervous system and body liquid. The abnormality of
internal environment can affect cyst. Lots of clinical practise proves that
unhealthy emotion can aggravate disease, especially for patients with PKD, they

8. pregnancy.Generally, the effection of pregnancy to PKD depends on the
condition of renal function. Although at present there is no material which
proves that women who have repeated pregnancy and hypertension have
unsatisfactory prognosis.and one fourth of women patients with PKD can develop
hypertension or aggravate hypertension when pregnant. So repeat pregnancy can
have bad effect to the prognosis. Of course, hereby we discuss about patients
with PKD having normal renal function. If their renal function is
abnormal,pregnancy may be much more dangerous to them.
