For patients with kidney disease, they should pay more attention to diet
because they should restrict many ingredients of food due to their disease's
condition. As Fruit contains various nutrition, people usually take fruit to
supplement nutrition. But why can't patients with kidney disease eat banana?
Banana is abundant in nutrition. Every 100g of banana pulp contains 20g of
carbohydrate, 1.2g of protein, 0.6g of fat and besides it also contains many
kinds of trace elements and vitamins. Vitamin A can promote growth, enhance
resistance of disease and is necessary for maintaining normal fertility and
vision. Thiamine can help to prevent or treat beriberi, increase appetite,
improve digestion and protect nervous system. Riboflavin can promote human body
normal growth and development. Besides banana contains much of potassium which
can decline blood pressure, so banana is suitable for patients with
hypertension.
Kidneys are an important organs discharge sodium, potassium and chloride. In
body fluid, sodium is a main electrolyte of extracellular fluid and potassium is
a main electrolyte of intracellular fluid. The discharge of sodium, potassium and
chloride directly affect the relative balance of those ions, which plays a great
role in maintaining normal osmotic pressure of body fluid and keeping balance of
the volume of body fluid and acid-base. So kidney disease patients should not
eat banana when their potassium is in a high level.
