How to Prevent Hyperphosphatemia Caused by Chronic Renal Failure

For patients with Chronic Renal Failure (CRF), the renal function declines seriously. Therefore, kidney can not discharge the phosphorus intake, which can cause them to have Hyperphosphatemia. It is an important inducement of hyperparathyroidism. Moreover, it can cause calcium-phosphorus product to increase, which lead soft tissue to calcification. Therefore, it is very important for patients with Chronic Renal Failure to prevent Hyperphosphatemia. Then what the patients should do? As follows:

1. Limit phosphorus intake

The patients with CRF should limit phosphorus intake within 800 milligrams per day. Therefore, they should keep a low protein diet. As one gram protein intake contains 15 milligrams phosphorus. Therefore, they should decline the protein intake so as to reduce the phosphorus intake. The patients should keep away from the food that contains high phosphorus such as yolk, animal offal.

2. Clear away phosphorus from intestinal tract

The patients with CRF should take phosphate binders to clear away the phosphorus from intestinal tract. The patients should take the medicines 10 minutes before meals or during the meals so as to make the phosphate binders mix with food. Then the patients can discharge the phosphorus by excrement.

3. Use dialysis to clear away phosphorus

The patients with CFR can use dialysis to clear away the phosphorus in their body according to their own disease condition.
