Development and Harms of Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD)

Polycystic Kidney Disease is a kind of hereditary disease. It should be controlled effectively though its genetic feature can not be eliminated. If PKD can not be controlled effectively in the early stage, it will develop into more serious stage and caused various complications, which is more dangerous for patients’ life.

In early stage, cysts are small and they won’t affect patients’ normal life. With cysts growing bigger, they will begin to compress surrounding kidney tissue gradually. Cystic pressure on kidney increases with cysts growing, which can start the process of Renal Fibrosis—the real cause of kidney injury. Once Renal Fibrosis involves more than 50% of the whole kidney, kidneys can not maintain the daily operation normally. If more than 80% kidney is involved by Renal Fibrosis, this disease begins to develop into End Stage Renal Failure or Uremia stage which can threaten patients’ life greatly.

Besides this, complications caused by PKD are also dangerous for PKD patients. During the development of PKD, several serious complications related with PKD can be caused at the same time. Such complications include Hypertension, Anemia, Kidney Stone, Polycystic Liver Disease, internal kidney calcification, urinary tract infection and cyst canceration, etc. Sometimes, these complications are more serious than the kidney problem itself.

Through the above, it can be found that if PKD can not be controlled effectively in early stage, it will bring very serious result and influence to PKD patients. Not only the disease itself, but also its related complications, can have great threat to patients’ life. For this reason, active and timely treatment is necessary to be adopted to control the development of this disease, which is beneficial to delay the process of this disease developing into Uremia stage and prevent related complications happening.if you need more informatoin about this disease, please consult us online for free or email to kidney-treatment@hotmail.com.
