1. Low salt diet : As the disease progresses, symptoms like swelling and high blood pressure may come into being. Mostly, high sodium foods can be found in salted products, caned foods, seafood, preserved meat and so on. In general, the amount can be be controlled within 2-3g per day.
2. Low-potassium diet : High-potassium is also a risk factor to high blood pressure, which will increase the damage to kidney. The kidney have a great effect on keeping electrolyte balance. With kidney damage, the potassium level will be increased. So if you are with high-potassium level in blood, you should adhere to a low-potassium diet. Foods that is rich in potassium is not recommended, such as bananas, pickles, spinach, potatoes and so on.
3. Low-protein diet : Low-protein diet is suggested for sake of reducing the burden of kidney. Low-protein can produce less waste produce. So low-protein diet is suggested. But it is not enough to eat only low-protein diet, high- quality protein diet is required to meet the need of our body. High-quality protein foods include eggs, milk, lean meat. The daily intake of protein should in the range of 0.6-0.8g per kilogram of body weight.
4. Vitamins : Vitamins is indispensable for maintaining the normal function of body. When you have kidney disease, you should supplement vitamins timely. Besides vitamin supplements, fresh vegetables and fruits are also rich in vitamins. Therefore, when you cook meal, you should add them into your diet.
